Services
Web design and development. We sketch out your website by discussing what it's for and the business goals your website can help you achieve. Together we pick out a template you like and then modify it to suit your particular needs. For some jobs, it may make sense to hire a designer to create a logo, brand identity, fonts, color palette, etc.
Hosting. I can host your site (through DreamHost), set up a hosting account for you on the host of your choice, or work with your existing web site hosting service. There are pros and cons to all of the above which we'll discuss during our initial consultation.
Domain name. This is your address on the web. If you don't have one, I can help you make the right choice and secure it for you.
HTML coding. This is the basic language of the web. All of the sites I develop or maintain use core (X)HTML.
CSS. Just a fancy name for styles. All of my sites are CSS-compliant.
PHP scripts. PHP is a scripting language that is commonly used throughout the web. Other languages I use include JavaScript and AJAX (which combines JavaScript and PHP to achieve really cool design effects).
mySQL. This is a database that stores stuff for you like links, text, and mailing lists. mySQL is the backbone of most blogs and forums. It's a very convenient way to manage information.
SEO. Search Engine Optimization is a phrase that describes how we get your website noticed by the big 4 search engines: Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask. This process involves designing the right search terms that accurately describe your business to the average person who is searching online. It also involves submitting your site to the search engines using site maps. I take care of all of that for you.
Blog. I suggest my service clients always set up a blog and keep it up to date. I can help you develop content for your blog so you don't have to worry about always posting something if you're not much of a writer.
